He shortly after enrolled in Laurentian University. After some searching, Greg found the academic direction that he would pursue was a science degree in Anthropology. Interested in various cultures and their ironwork, Greg became involved in researching wootz type crucible steels. In 2003, he presented his undergrad research project on “Replication of wootz damascus type steel “.  In 2005, Greg helped as a technical editor for the book “Arms and Armor from Iran: The Bronze Age to the End of the Qajar Period” by Dr. Khorasani. He also has spent extensive time restoring and studying antique crucible steel arms and armor. Later Greg participated in 2009 in a documentary on Wootz crucible steel for Discovery Channel HD.  For the film,  Greg produced a crucible steel ingot which he then forged into a shamshir for testing. Over the years, Greg has produced many ingots of steel in search of replicating the crucible steel patterns of ancient times. He also worked as an editor for the book "Lexicon of Arms and Armor from Iran: A Study of symbols and Terminology" by Dr. Khorasani. Greg has very much enjoyed steelmaking and blacksmithing and will continue on this road for many rewarding years. He is co-authoring a number of articles on making crucible steel together with Dr. Khorasani. - Team
